Wander — Get Lost · Last updated 9 August 2026

Wander is a travel app that finds interesting places near you, narrates them, builds walking and driving tours, and sets local challenges. This policy explains exactly what it collects, why, and who else sees it. It describes the app as it actually behaves — if something here stops being true, this page is what gets corrected.

Who we are

Wander is operated by Vincenzo Mazzoni. Contact: support@wander-getlost.com.

What Wander collects

DataWhyWhere it goes
Precise location To find places near you, draw routes, narrate what you are passing, and tell you when you are close to a challenge. Google (Places, Directions, Geocoding), OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia as coordinates for a search. Stored on your device; recent coordinates are also used to look up shared place data on our server.
Location in the background Only while Wander mode or a navigation is running, so narration and turn prompts keep working with the phone in your pocket or the screen off. Same as above. Background collection stops when you stop the session.
Photos you take in the app Museum placard scans (to identify the piece) and challenge check-in photos (to confirm you are where the challenge asked). Sent to Anthropic for analysis and not retained by us after the result is returned.
Account To keep your tours, tokens and progress attached to you rather than to one device. Supabase (our database and authentication provider). If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address that service releases to us.
Purchases To credit the tokens you bought and to stop the same receipt being redeemed twice. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card. Apple's receipt is validated by our server and the token balance is stored against your account.
A per-device identifier Apple's DeviceCheck, used once to record that a device has already claimed its free starting tokens. It stops the same phone claiming the grant repeatedly by reinstalling. Apple. It is two bits of yes/no storage held by Apple against your device. It carries no personal information and cannot be used to identify or track you.
Anonymous usage counts To see which features are used, so we know what to improve. Our own server. Counters only — which feature ran, how often. Not tied to your identity and not sold or shared.

Tours you create are published

Please read this one. When Wander generates a tour for you it is saved to a shared library so other travellers in the same area can find it. Its title, description and list of stops become visible to other users of the app. Your name and email are never attached to it — a published tour shows no author.

If you would rather a tour was not shared, delete it: removing a saved tour you created also removes it from the shared library. You can also write to us at the address above and we will remove it for you.

Reporting content

Tours suggested to you are written by an AI from other people's requests, so occasionally something inappropriate can appear. Every recommended tour in the app has a Report action, and you can block a tour's creator so nothing of theirs is suggested to you again. Reports reach support@wander-getlost.com and are reviewed, with offending content removed and repeat offenders barred from publishing.

What we do not do

How long it is kept

Deleting your account and data

Open Profile in the app and choose Delete my account. This permanently removes your account, saved tours, ratings, badges and any remaining tokens. It cannot be undone and tokens are not refunded. If you would rather we did it, email support@wander-getlost.com from the address on the account.

Turning off location

iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wander. Wander needs location to do its main job, so most features stop working without it, but the app will not crash and your account and saved tours are unaffected.

Children

Wander is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Who processes data for us

These providers receive only what they need to answer the request in front of them.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email support@wander-getlost.com and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is used, tell you in the app.
